Building a Safer Future: AGS One’s First Year with Rail Safe Friendly

In a bid to tackle the growing issue of railway trespass among young people, AGS One and the Rail Safe Friendly programme are delivering a powerful, ongoing educational initiative designed to raise awareness, prevent injuries, and save lives across Britain’s railway network.

The Rail Safe Friendly programme enables schools and the rail industry to work together towards a shared goal: equipping children and young people with the knowledge they need to stay safe around railways. By providing free, high-quality safety resources and facilitating direct engagement with industry experts, the initiative helps embed life-saving messages into school communities nationwide.

In AGS One’s first year with the Rail Safe Friendly programme, the organisation has reached an incredible 8,552 young people, with all AGS One’s sponsored schools achieving BRONZE accreditation in recognition of their commitment to rail safety education—an achievement that underscores the impact of coordinated outreach and sustained partnership.

Building on this momentum, AGS One plans to expand its involvement in the coming year, supporting more schools, increasing student reach, and deepening the level of engagement through interactive sessions, digital resources, and community-focused events.

James Waller, Managing Director of AGS One commented:

AGS are delighted to be working alongside Rail Safe Friendly and the value of the programme has resonated throughout the business. We are proud to support the scheme and the importance of railway safety reaching school children is of massive importance. During my time at school, sadly there were a number of railway fatalities with fellow pupils and this has sat with me for years. Any message that can educate and inspire children to make better choices around safety is of huge benefit. Rail Safe Friendly is a great organisation to work with, it’s great to collaborate with like minded people.

Stuart Heaton, Managing Director of Learn Live and Rail Safe Friendly commented:

“We are pleased that AGS One is a proud supporter of the Rail Safe Friendly programme.

It shows the collective commitment of the rail industry to making railway safety education accessible to young people across the country. With the support of organisations like this we can continue our mission to protect young people from the dangers of railway trespass.

With the ongoing support of AGS One and dedicated educators across the country, Rail Safe Friendly continues to grow delivering life-saving information directly into classrooms.”
