Rail Safe Friendly Connects with the Rail Industry at RIN Derby 2026

The Rail Safe Friendly team had a fantastic day at Rail Infrastructure Networking (RIN) Derby 2026, joining rail organisations and industry professionals from across the UK at Derby Arena on Thursday 17 September.

RIN Derby brings together businesses from across the rail infrastructure sector, creating an opportunity to build new relationships, reconnect with existing partners and explore ways organisations can work together to support the future of the industry.

For Rail Safe Friendly, it was also an important opportunity to continue one of our biggest conversations: how the rail industry can work together to help keep young people safe around the railway.

Connecting the Rail Industry with Education

Throughout the event, we spoke with organisations from across the sector about the Rail Safe Friendly programme and the impact businesses can have by supporting rail safety education in schools.

Rail Safe Friendly provides schools and educational settings with access to rail safety resources designed to educate young people about the dangers associated with the railway and encourage safer behaviours.

However, the programme is about more than providing resources.

By working with organisations from across the rail industry, we can help create a stronger connection between businesses, schools and the communities they operate within.

RIN Derby gave us the opportunity to have some brilliant conversations about how organisations can get involved, support schools and play an active role in helping young people understand why railway safety matters.

Building New Relationships

One of the highlights of attending RIN events is the opportunity to meet such a broad range of people from across the rail sector in one place.

We were delighted to catch up with existing Rail Safe Friendly supporters as well as introduce the programme to organisations hearing about our work for the first time.

Every new conversation creates the potential to reach another school, another classroom and ultimately more young people with important rail safety messages.

The support of the rail industry continues to be incredibly important in helping Rail Safe Friendly grow its reach and ensuring schools can access engaging and relevant safety education.

A Shared Commitment to Rail Safety

Rail safety is a shared responsibility, and the conversations we had at RIN Derby demonstrated the continued commitment across the industry to supporting safer communities.

Whether through sponsoring schools, sharing industry expertise, supporting educational content or helping us extend the programme into new areas, there are many ways organisations can become part of the Rail Safe Friendly journey.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us at RIN Derby and to the RIN Events team for bringing the rail industry together for another successful event.

We’re looking forward to continuing the conversations started in Derby and developing new partnerships that will help us take rail safety education even further.
