ResponSec’s Rail Safety Programme Protects Over 28,000 Young Lives Across the UKResponSec’s Rail Safety Programme Protects Over 28,000 Young Lives Across the UK

ResponSec is proud to announce that over 28,000 young people have been educated on rail safety in the past year. Delivered by Learn Live through Rail Safe Friendly, the programme reached 44 schools, helping to raise awareness and reduce the risks associated with railway environments.

Daniel Blackwood, Managing Director of ResponSec, said:

“We’re extremely proud to be part of a programme that delivers potentially life-saving rail safety education to young people. Rail safety is something the whole team at ResponSec is deeply passionate about, and this wide-reaching initiative is a great example of how working together can make a real difference.”

The initiative has reached a diverse range of schools, including Mission Grove Primary School, where pupils took part in interactive video presentations and quizzes designed to deepen their understanding of the dangers posed by electrified lines and train tracks. Some schools have gone a step further by sharing the Rail Safety Friendly programmes with parents and carers, earning silver certification in recognition of their commitment to promoting safety within the wider community.

Stuart Heaton, Managing Director and Founder of Learn Live and Rail Safe Friendly, commented:

“It is fantastic to see the number of young people educated about rail safety in our first year of working together, thanks to ResponSec’s commitment and support. We are delighted that ResponSec is a proud supporter of the Rail Safe Friendly programme, demonstrating the rail industry’s collective commitment to making railway safety education accessible to young people across the country. With the support of organisations like ResponSec, we can continue our mission to protect young people from the dangers of railway trespass. Through their ongoing support, alongside the dedication of educators nationwide, Rail Safe Friendly continues to grow, delivering life-saving rail safety information directly into classrooms.”

The programme’s virtual delivery has also generated significant social value, with ResponSec contributing to an impact of almost £800,000. Schools such as London-based, Mission Grove Primary, reported that students were highly engaged and came away with new knowledge, such as understanding how electricity from overhead lines can ‘jump’ and why it is crucial to remain vigilant around train tracks.

ResponSec looks forward to continuing the RSF programme in 2026/2027, expanding its reach and working with more schools to ensure that rail safety remains a priority across the UK.
